The Barrie Police are investigating an early-morning break-in at a home on Woodfern Court in the city’s south end.
Officers were called just before 3:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13th, to a residence in the area of Holly Meadow Road and Kenwell Crescent after reports that three males armed with weapons had forced entry into the home.
Police say the suspects shattered a rear glass door to gain access. The homeowner reported that two of the suspects were armed with handguns, while a third carried what appeared to be a hammer or small hatchet.
The suspects fled through the front door before officers arrived and are believed to have left empty-handed. No physical injuries were reported.
Police quickly established a perimeter and deployed both a K9 unit and a drone in an effort to locate the suspects, but they were not found. Officers have canvassed the neighbourhood and obtained video surveillance footage to assist with the ongoing investigation.
The suspects are described as three young Black males:
- One wore white shoes
- One wore black and white shoes
- One wore dark shoes
All three were dressed in black hoodies and masks.
Investigators are asking residents in the area of Holly Meadow Road between Woodfern Court and Sundew Drive to review any home security footage captured between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Friday, February 13th for suspicious individuals or vehicles.
