Residents in Beeton can expect construction activity along Main Street throughout the summer as infrastructure work moves forward as part of the Simcoe Village redevelopment project.
The Town of New Tecumseth says approved external watermain work for Simcoe Manor is underway and will continue through the end of August. Crews will be drilling a watermain within the southern boulevard along Main Street in the Simcoe Village area.
Officials say the work is required to support local infrastructure improvements. During construction, residents may notice increased equipment and crew activity, along with minor traffic disruptions along Main Street.
A second phase of the project is expected to begin in early July and will involve additional watermain work at the intersection of Main Street and Patterson Street. That work will require a temporary closure of Patterson Street.
The Town, Simcoe County and project consultants are currently finalizing traffic management plans for the intersection closure. More details are expected to be released before that phase begins.
