Bradford West Gwllimbury has decided to opt in.
Last night (jan 8) at BWG Council they voted to allow private cannabis retail stores to be located within the municipality.
The Town doesn’t meet the 50,000 population threshold for retail pot shop lottery which will allow 25 shops in Ontario in April.
An online survey on the BWG website showed 64% in favour of allowing recreational cannabis retail stores.
Those who indicated they might partake in recreational cannabis said, for them, the most desired method was through legal retail outlets and not online.
Council also directed staff to prepare a report outlining how smoking regulations where smoking of either tobacco or cannabis would be permitted.
