South Simcoe Police have released their Festive RIDE results.
The four week campaign saw an increase in the number of spotchecks.
8275 vehicles were stopped and 12 drivers were charged with impaired offenses.
Acting Sgt Steve Black says while the numbers may be down from last years festive campaign of 23 charges, he does not think drivers are actually getting the message.
20 people were charged under the Cannabis Act.
Sgt Black says if the driver can reach the product while sitting behind the wheel, they can face a charge.
He also stated that 17 other drug related charges were laid, in those cases the drugs in question were heroin, fentanyl and possibly carfentanil.
