On August 9th 1974, Canada suffered its largest single loss of lives during while peacekeeping when a Syrian Missile shot down a resupply mission.
Including two men from South Simcoe.
National Peacekeepers Day was established in 2008.
Fern Taillefer is the President of the Central Ontario Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping.
He says the parade, to be held tomorrow (aug9), will include members from Base Borden.
The Peacekeepers Day Parade will take place at 10:30 tomorrow (aug9) morning at Peacekeepers Park, located at 10 Commerce Road in Angus.
The music for the parade is being provided by the Cadets involved in the summer Black-Down program at Base Borden.
Following the parade a reception will be held at the Angus Legion. Located at 15 Fraser St. in Angus.
