Effective May 4, the decision to close Welcome Wagon Ltd and file for bankruptcy has been made. This decision has been very heartbreaking and difficult to make as we have tried to work through every process to keep the business afloat. However, without visits (personal contact) and your businesses open (many are closed now and will also be in a situation of not advertising for some time), we cannot survive. We see at least 4 to 5 months without revenue which has led us to this decision.
Due to the rapidly declining visits across Canada, and now the Covid-19 pandemic shut down, Welcome Wagon has become insolvent and we cannot operate as an ongoing business. Consequently, we regret to inform you that your relationship with Welcome Wagon Ltd. is terminated effective immediately. No activity (billing) has taken place from March 16, 2020. The court appointed Bankruptcy Trustee is A. Farber & Partners Inc. Toronto, Ontario.
Over the past two years we have been working on a new program to create an app which when consumers use their credit card in your business, they would receive cash back rewards. A great way to publicize your business. Some of you have already take the step to sign a contract. Whether this program will be launched by the partner who was developing it, is yet to be seen.
We know that news such as this is not good news and is not easy. Many of our Head Office staff and some Representatives have spent their entire working careers in our business. Some of us have spent over half our life working with Welcome Wagon. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your unwavering support and business partnerships over the many years we have been in Canada (90 years this June). The service was inspired by frontier settlers and their Conestoga Wagons in the mid to late 1800’s. Their communal ways of greeting new settlers on the prairies laid the foundation for Welcome Wagon. Welcome Wagon Ltd was incorporated as a wholly Canadian operation in 1979. We have been very proud to serve you for these many years.
