Stevenson Memorial Hospital is using a new method of germ killing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other viral infections.
Four brand new UV light air purifiers are now entering rooms after patients are discharged to make sure there is nothing left behind.
Wayne Willcott is Director of Facilities, Environmental and Food Services with the Alliston Hospital.
Willcott says they only need to be switched on for 10 minutes.
Willcott says the extra layer of protection will help prevent the spread of disease and can be used in all areas of the hospital.
The 4 units come with a price tag of over $100,000, but he says some if not all of the cost could be covered by the Ministry of Health through their COVID expense grants.
