I am running for the position of Public School Board Trustee. Specifically, for Trustee for the Town of Innisfil on the Simcoe County District School Board.
I was first elected to this office in 1998 and have served continually since by being elected to the position.
My platform is that I believe in public education and that it is essential for the future of our children in Innisfil and Simcoe County.
Public education shouldn’t be taken for granted; it needs to be valued and protected.
This has been my motivation as continuing to seek this elected office once again.
I have the experience and understanding of what the role of a public school Board Trustee is.
In regard to public education in the Town of Innisfil, these are the most important issues that need to be improved on:
- Capital Facility needs: Innisfil’s population is growing, and additional elementary schools need to be built to accommodate this growth.
- Also another High School should be built within the next 4 years, to support this growth in population.
- Transportation: the current budget that the Province of Ontario provides for bussing is not adequate for the number of students receiving bussing in all of the Simcoe County District School Board.
Maintaining stability in our system partners and keeping schools open is my goal.
Also, as I have experience with the Board and its administration, I am happy to fulfill leadership roles at the Board table.
