Parents will have to use new phone number if their children will be away from school this year.
The Simcoe County District School Board has launched a new system for student absence reporting at all elementary and secondary schools.
While some parents would call their school directly and others would email, a new 888 number has been implemented.
The new system is aimed at supporting the school board in continuing to improve home-to-school communication processes and streamlining absence reporting.
Callers will be prompted to identify the child’s school before leaving a message.
They must include the student’s name, dates, and reason for the absence.
The previous Safe Arrival program will continue under the new absence reporting system at all elementary schools.
To report a student absence, parents/guardians should call 1-888-885-8065.
