
The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is pleased to announce that Staff Sergeant Kevin Bucknor, an accomplished law enforcement officer with a wealth of experience, has joined our team as an Operations Manager.
Holding degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science from the University of Guelph, as well as a diploma in Police Foundations from Sheridan College, Staff Sergeant.
Bucknor brings a unique blend of academic knowledge and practical expertise to his role within the Nottawasaga OPP.
With an impressive career within the OPP, Staff Sergeant Bucknor’s journey began at the Caledon Detachment. During his tenure, he took on diverse roles, including Coach Officer, School Resource Officer, Mental Health Liaison, Administrative Sergeant, Community Response Unit Team Lead, and Interim Operations Manager.
Through his dedication and strategic approach, Staff Sergeant Bucknor forged invaluable partnerships with stakeholders in the Peel Region area.
Staff Sergeant Bucknor’s commitment to community service is evident through his involvement in various risk mitigation committees, including the Community Safety and Well Being Leadership Table, Opioid Strategy Working Group, Peel Human Services and Justice Co-coordinating Committee, Peel Crisis Response Committee, and the Police/Security Transfer of Care Working Group.
He has also held the role of officio member of the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers, furthering his dedication to enhancing community safety.
In his role as Provincial Coordinator for the Auxiliary Program, Staff Sgt. Bucknor successfully spearheaded the implementation of the Auxiliary Modernization Strategy, working closely with key stakeholders and partners to promote community safety and well-being.
He has served as the executive lead for the OPP School Officer Review, demonstrating his commitment to creating safe and inclusive learning environments for our youth.
Staff Sergeant Bucknor’s extensive leadership experience includes senior roles within OPP Community Safety Services and the Provincial Operations Centre, where he served as Commander.
His exemplary service has earned him prestigious accolades, including the Commissioner’s Commendation for Community Service, Commissioner’s Citation for Bravery, and the Commissioner’s Citation for Life Saving.
