Now that snow plows hit the road, Ontario drivers will have a new law to follow.
A recent amendment to the Highway Traffic Act now prohibits the improper passing of snow plows working in tandem formation on highways.
Under the new law, drivers who overtake a snow plow working in formation where the speed limit is 80 km/h or above, can face a fine.
Nottawasaga OPP Constable Jackie Beaulieu says you should only pass a snowplow when it is safe to do so.

Constable Beaulieu says the condition of the road ahead of a snow plow is unknown and it is best to hang back and drive safely.
She says either leave early, or call in into work late.
