The province is set to make an announcement regarding a multi-billion dollar deal with Honda this week.
The deal will see the Honda Plant in Alliston build a stand-alone battery manufacturing and a transformed EV vehicle assembly plant.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford has indicated the Honda investment will be the largest deal in Canadian history.
Back in 2022, Honda announced its Alliston plant would be converted to manufacture Civic hybrids.
The Alliston facility would become the third electric vehicle battery plant in the province.
Volkswagen set up shop in St. Thomas and Stellantis LG plant in Windsor.
Honda’s deal involves two parts suppliers for their batteries as well, cathodes and separators.
Those facilities will be built elsewhere in Ontario.
