In just 3 months, more than $330,000 in fines have been sent out to residents thanks to Essa Township’s automated speed enforcement program.
The Speed Cameras have captured pictures of residents travelling above the posted limit and tickets have been mailed out to the owner of the vehicle.
At last weeks (may15) Council meeting, staff indicated about half of the tickets have been paid.
Those who default on the fine might find it hard to renew their licence plates, so staff are patiently waiting.
Despite negative feedback from residents, the municipality believes the automated speed enforcement program is working.
Vehicles have been slowing down in areas with cameras present.
