
The Provincial government has announced $67.3-million to fund new schools in the Town of Innisfil and Barrie.
The Simcoe County District School Board plans to build a new elementary school in Alcona at the intersection of Innisfil Beach Road and Jans Boulevard.
The facility will provide room for 619 students…Including 6 kindergarten classrooms… the funding will cover $27.6 million.
The 57,000 square foot school is scheduled to open in the fall of 2026.
A 2,600-sq.-ft. expansion was announced for Nantyr Shores Secondary School.
The $12.7-million, in funding will create 414 new student spots, bringing up the capacity of 1,605 students.
$26.9-million is also going toward a new elementary school in South Barrie.
The 3 projects are included in the $1.3 billion in provincial spending through the Ontario government’s capital priorities program.
