More than 9,000 LCBO workers have officially walked off the job as the 12:01 am strike deadline passed without an agreement.
Liquor stores will be closed for at least two weeks as long as the strike is on.
The Union says workers will be picketing at retail locations and warehouses today.
The major sticking point, according to the union, is the lack of job security as the province plans to open up the alcohol market to allow convenience and grocery stores to sell beer, wine and ready-to-drink cocktails.
If the strike last longer than 14 days, the LCBO says 32 of its locations will reopen for in-person shopping while operating three days a week on limited hours.
The LCBO also says it will continue to fulfill wholesale orders and accept orders for free home delivery on its website and mobile app.
Specialty Services and Duty-Free will remain operational during the strike.
