The Ontario government has announced the appointment of Carmine Stumpo as the new supervisor for Stevenson Memorial Hospital, bringing in an experienced leader to oversee hospital operations and enhance governance, accountability, and patient care.
He replaces Eric Hanna, who has served in the role since September 2024.
Stumpo brings over 25 years of healthcare experience, including his current role as President and CEO of Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, where he has been a strong advocate for local, high-quality health care. He has led transformative changes in partnership with primary care and community providers and is expected to bring similar strengths to Stevenson Memorial.
This leadership change follows an investigation into governance and patient care concerns, led by Janice Skot earlier this year. The Ministry of Health says the appointment will help address those concerns and ensure stronger oversight and delivery of services moving forward.
Stumpo will work closely with Hanna during a transition period, and will provide ongoing updates to both the Ministry of Health and Ontario Health on hospital progress, governance, and financial performance.
Hospital operations will continue without interruption, including progress on Stevenson Memorial’s redevelopment project, ensuring patients and families continue to receive the care they need.
