Peel Regional Police have charged a York Region man with multiple sexual assault offences involving girls under the age of 16, and investigators believe there may be more victims – including in Simcoe County.
Between February 2024 and June 2025, police allege the accused used the online names “Jimmy,” “Jimmy Smoke,” and “Steve McQueen” to contact victims through social media before sexually assaulting them.
On Thursday, August 28th, investigators arrested 49-year-old Steven De Melis of York Region, and charged him with:
- Sexual Assault (X5)
- Sexual Interference (X5)
- Invitation to Sexual Touching (X6)
- Possessing Child Pornography
- Child Luring – Child Under 18 Years Old
- Child Luring – Child Under 16 Years Old (X3)
- Child Luring – Child Under 14 Years Old
- Procuring
Police say De Melis has connections not only to York Region, Toronto, and Mississauga, but also to Simcoe County, and are concerned there may be additional victims in the area.
