The County of Simcoe, alongside community partners, is preparing to host its third annual Week of Welcome from Monday, September 15th to Friday, September 19th.
This weeklong celebration showcases the region’s diverse cultural mosaic while extending a warm invitation to newcomers starting their journey in Simcoe County.
The schedule includes a variety of events designed to connect residents, newcomers, and service providers:
- September 15th – Citizenship Ceremony (invitation only) at the County of Simcoe Administration Centre.
- September 16th – RentSmart Session for newcomers at Barrie Public Library (Downtown Branch).
- September 17th – Regional Social Service Fair (10 a.m.–1 p.m.) and Regional Job Fair (3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.) at Southshore Community Centre in Barrie.
- September 19th – Mosaic Life Festival at Meridian Place in downtown Barrie (5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.), a community celebration of culture, food, and entertainment.
- Municipal Open Houses will also take place throughout September at various locations.
Organizers say the event highlights Simcoe County’s commitment to inclusivity and celebrates the contributions newcomers bring to the community.
