Camphill Communities Ontario has received $146,500 in provincial funding to renovate and restore Novalis Hall, its rural community hub in Angus.
The announcement was made by Brian Saunderson, MPP for Simcoe-Grey, during a recent visit to the site. The funding, provided through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Capital Grant Stream, has supported critical upgrades to the building’s interior, exterior, septic system, and washrooms.
“The Camphill community provides vital support, education, and care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” says MPP Saunderson. “This significant OTF grant has been put to excellent use, ensuring Novalis Hall can continue to serve the community for decades to come.”
Camphill Communities Ontario is a not-for-profit organization that creates meaningful opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities to live, learn, and work together. Executive Director Larry Palmer called the project “a new life for a space that holds deep meaning,” noting that Novalis Hall is more than a building – it’s a place for connection, arts, culture, education, and inclusion.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Capital grant stream helps organizations improve infrastructure so they can continue delivering programs and services that strengthen communities.
“This funding will help ensure that [Camphill] remains at the heart of the community for decades to come,” says Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming.
Across Ontario, OTF has provided more than $28 million in capital grants this year to support 300 local programs and services, part of the province’s efforts to build resilient and thriving communities.
