The Ontario Provincial Police say two drivers were stopped for stunt driving in Oro-Medonte Township within just an hour of each other.
An 18-year-old from Oro-Medonte and a 61-year-old from Coldwater were both charged and each face a 30-day licence suspension along with a 14-day vehicle impoundment. Police did not release the specific speeds but confirmed both cases met the threshold for stunt driving under Ontario law. Stunt driving includes:
- driving 40 kilometres per hour or more over the speed limit on roads with a speed limit less than 80 kilometres per hour
- driving 50 kilometres per hour or more over the speed limit
- driving in a way that prevents other vehicles from passing
- intentionally cutting off another vehicle
- intentionally driving too close to another vehicle, pedestrian or fixed object
Officers say drivers need to be aware that excessive speed not only comes with steep penalties but also puts lives at risk.
Police are reminding motorists to slow down and drive safe.
