
Centre ice for the Alliston Hornets
The Alliston Hornets returned to the ice this past weekend with a pair of games.
On Friday, September 26th, hosted the Penetang Kings at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre.
It was Noah Larmon who opened the scoring for the Hornets, potting his 2nd goal in the first couple minutes of the game, assisted by Ben Smith and Jonathan Beausart. Alliston carried the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
In the second period, Will Millington managed to get on the board for his 1st of the year, with help from Will Hopcraft and David Harvey. The two goal lead for the Hornets was short lived for the Hornets, as Penetang was able to get on the board. It was 2-1 Alliston after 40 minutes of action.
Penetang then tied things up early in the final frame. A few minutes later, Jacob English was able to take back the lead for the Hornets, assisted by Tristen Pitt and Mark Coish. It was Pitts who then followed up with a goal of his own, with help from Millington. Alliston would beat Penetang 4-2.
Riley Arts was in net for the Hornets. He stopped 29 of 31 shots, giving him the .935% save percentage and the win.
It was a quick turnaround for Alliston, as they had a road game against the Hunstville Otters at the Canada Summit Centre.
Jacob Jackson opened the scoring for the Hornets in the opening frame. Huntsville tied things up shortly after. It was 1-1 after 20 minutes of action.
In the second period, Duncan Grube would score back-to-back goals, which was followed up by another from Jackson, and one from Will Millington. It was 5-1 Alliston after two periods of play.
Hunstville would get one back in the third period, but Will Hopcraft and Ben Smith would improve on Alliston’s lead. The Hornets would clinch the 7-2 win over the Otters.
In net for Alliston was Anthony Lovisa. He stopped 19 of 21 shots, giving him the .904 save percentage and the win.
The Hornets will have the work week off as they get ready for a pair of games this weekend, including a home game against the Muskoka Bears at the New Tec Rec Centre on Friday, October 3rd. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. Ticket details can be found here.
