A routine traffic stop by members of the Nottawasaga OPP Traffic Unit has led to the arrest of a 65-year-old driver facing several criminal and traffic-related charges.
On Wednesday, October 1st, officers were conducting general patrols on 4th Line when an Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) alert flagged the vehicle. Police determined the driver was breaching a probation order and committing multiple Highway Traffic Act offences.
The individual was arrested and charged with:
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code (three counts)
- Driving While Under Suspension (three counts)
- Fail to Notify Change of Address
- Fail to Have Insurance Card
The vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days under the Criminal Code Vehicle Impoundment Program (VIP).
The accused has since been released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
