Centre ice for the Alliston Hornets
The Alliston Hornets had a pair of games over the long weekend, and they were looking to remain undefeated on the season.
On Friday, October 10th, the Hornets went into Midland to take on the Flyers.
They found themselves down 3-2 after the first period, but a pair of goals from Tristen Pitt managed to tie things up in the second period, with Nick Lamont potting the game winner in the third. An empty netter from Duncan Grube (his second of the game) secured the 6-4 win. Alliston also received a goal from Payton Palbiski in the opening frame.
Go-to starter Riley Arts was in net for the Hornets. He stopped 25 of 29 shots for the .862% save percentage and win.
That game was quickly followed with another road game on Saturday, October 11th.
This time, the Hornets were taking on the Orillia Terriers.
They traded goals in the opening period, making it tied 1-1 after 20 minutes of action. Alliston’s goal came from Noah Cochrane.
In the second period, the Hornets began buzzing in the offensive zone. Jax Bellwood took the lead early for Alliston, but the Terriers quickly answered back. Nick Lamont then potted two unanswered goals, giving the Hornets a 4-2 lead heading into the final frame.
Duncan Grube would score the dagger, giving them enough space to withstand a third goal from Orillia. Alliston beat the Terriers 5-3.
Anthony Lovisa was in net for the Hornets this time around. He stopped 29 of 32 shots, good for a .906% save percentage and win.
The Hornets will be back at it again on the road this weekend, taking on the Kings in Penetang on Friday, October 17th. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
This will be a somewhat long road stretch for the Hornets as they won’t return home until late next week. They host the Innisfil Spartans on Friday, October 24th. Ticket details can be found here.
