South Simcoe Police conducted targeted traffic enforcement and RIDE programs across Innisfil and Bradford over the Thanksgiving long weekend as part of Operation Impact 2025, a national campaign focused on road safety under the theme “Safety is in MY hands.”
Between October 10th and October 13th, officers from Uniform Patrol, Traffic, and the Community Response Unit laid 146 charges, including 114 under the Highway Traffic Act, 30 under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act, and two impaired driving offences under the Criminal Code. Common charges included speeding, failing to stop at stop signs, operating unsafe vehicles, novice drivers with drugs in their system, driving without insurance, and obstructed plates.
Police say the campaign targeted high-risk driving behaviours, unsafe vehicles, and insurance compliance. Each year in Innisfil and Bradford, an average of six people die on local roads, with many more seriously injured in preventable crashes.
South Simcoe Police remind residents that traffic safety is a shared responsibility, and lasting change depends on drivers making safe choices. Officers encourage everyone to drive sober, slow down, stay focused, and make decisions that protect themselves and others on the road.
