As respiratory virus activity rises this fall, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is encouraging residents to get immunized against influenza and COVID-19.
The free vaccines are now available through local pharmacies and some health care providers.
Health officials say getting vaccinated early offers the best protection during the winter months when viruses spread most. The health unit also recommends staying home when sick, frequent handwashing, and masking in crowded indoor spaces.
RSV vaccines are available for eligible seniors, high-risk adults, and infants.
For more information about respiratory illnesses and vaccination, click here or contact the health unit at 705-721-7520 or 1-877-721-7520, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
