A 44-year-old New Tecumseth resident has been charged after Nottawasaga OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Mill Street in Essa Township on October 31st.
Officers were called around 3:00 p.m. after witnesses reported a vehicle swerving and the driver slumped over the wheel. Police determined the driver was impaired by drugs and arrested them at the scene.
The accused faces charges of:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance
They are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford in December.
Police remind the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
