14 people were initially arrested after Barrie police responded to a report of a woman being held inside a residence on Scott Crescent over the weekend.
Just before 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 15th, officers attended the address following a call that a woman was being confined by individuals known to her.
Upon arrival, they located several people inside the home, some of whom were found to have outstanding warrants. In total, 14 individuals were arrested and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters.
Police confirmed the woman who was the subject of the initial call was located at the residence in good health.
As a result of the investigation:
A 33-year-old Barrie man is charged with:
- Assault
- Kidnapping
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Failure to Comply with a Release Order
A 39-year-old Barrie man is charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
A 40-year-old woman is charged with:
- Failure to Comply with Probation
A 47-year-old man is charged with:
- Failure to Comply with a Release Order
A 46-year-old man was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.
All other individuals detained during the incident were released unconditionally.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and believe the incident to be isolated, with no ongoing risk to public safety.
