The Alliston Hornets’ postseason run started off strong over the weekend.
They welcomed the Hunstville Otters to the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre on Friday, February 20th for game one of their first round match-up.
Gunner Kirk was first to get on the board, scoring twice in the opening period. The Hornets would take that 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
In the second period, Alliston would get goals from Nick Lamont, Duncan Grube, David Harvey, and Ben Smith. The Otters would get their own goal late to make it 6-1 Hornets after 40 minutes of action.
The third period was all Alliston as they outshot the Otters 22-2. However, the puck wouldn’t find the back of the net, making it a 6-1 win for the Hornets.
Riley Arts was in net for Alliston. He stopped 19 of 20 shots, giving him a stellar .950% save percentage and the win.
The Hornets then travelled to Huntsville for game two on Sunday, February 22nd.
This game was all Alliston, as they managed to get three goals from Duncan Grube, two goals from Gunner Kirk, as well as goals from Liam Carroll, Nick Lamont, and Jacob English. The Hornets would crush the Otters 8-3.
In net for Alliston was Anthony Lovisa. He had a light night, facing just 11 total shots. He’d stop eight of them for a less-than-spectacular (but good enough) save percentage of .727%.
Alliston will look for the sweep this coming weekend as game three will be on Friday, February 27th. Game time at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre will start at 7:30 p.m. Ticket information is available here.
Game four will then take place on Sunday, March 1st at the Canada Summit Centre in Huntsville. That one will start at 2:30 p.m.
