The County of Simcoe says progress continues on the redevelopment of the Simcoe Village Campus in Beeton, with council approving several enhancements aimed at improving seniors’ living and care options.
This week, County Council approved relocating a planned Memory Care Unit to Simcoe Lodge within the co-housing building, increasing capacity from six to nine residents. The co-housing model allows older adults to maintain independence in private suites while sharing common living spaces, and the new layout will provide improved access to secure outdoor areas in a more home-like setting.
The change also allows Simcoe Residences Retirement Home to add five additional suites, while maintaining two guest suites for visiting family members or students, helping strengthen the long-term sustainability of the campus. Council also approved a covered parking structure with 20 premium spaces for residents seeking added convenience and weather protection.
Warden Basil Clarke called Simcoe Village one of the most significant investments in seniors’ living in the region’s history, saying the enhancements support residents at every stage of aging.
Construction across the campus is ongoing, with the first phase expected in early 2027 and the next phase beginning in spring 2026, wrapping up by mid-2027.
