The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) has opened applications for the Umoja Black Secondary Student Leadership Award, an annual scholarship recognizing leadership and community involvement.
Umoja is a Swahili word that means “unity.” This award is geven to a full-time registered SCDSB Black secondary school student who will be attending post-secondary education in the fall and demonstrates leadership within their school and the Black community in Simcoe County.
The selection process will be facilitated by the SCDSB Human Rights and Equity Office, with the recipient chosen by a committee made up of members of the SCDSB Equity Advisory Committee. Information provided in each application will assist the committee in its decision-making process.
