The Town of New Tecumseth is inviting accredited post-secondary institutions to submit proposals for a potential Trades and Technology Training Centre in the community.
Council approved the release of an Expression of Interest (EOI) at its Monday, February 23rd meeting, seeking partnership opportunities to develop and deliver skilled trades and technology training locally. The initiative aims to address labour shortages in sectors including manufacturing, automotive, construction, and emerging trades, while supporting the Town’s long-term economic development goals.
The EOI will officially launch Monday, March 2, and is open to any accredited post-secondary institution. While no site has been selected, the Town plans to conduct a feasibility study (subject to funding approval) to assess labour market demand, infrastructure needs, and potential locations.
Mayor Richard Norcross says the move is a proactive step toward building local talent pipelines and positioning New Tecumseth as a regional leader in skilled trades training.
More information will be available here, beginning March 2nd.
