A 46-year-old man from Essa Township is facing multiple charges following a road rage incident in Barrie’s west end.
It happened Friday, February 20th when a woman driving west on Dunlop Street West reported a pickup truck merging from the Highway 400 northbound off-ramp without signalling and then driving erratically. Investigators say video footage showed the truck cutting off the complainant, stopping in the lane, blocking a lane change, tailgating closely, and turning toward the woman’s vehicle in a way that could have caused a serious collision with oncoming traffic. No crash occurred and no injuries were reported.
The driver later surrendered at Barrie Police Headquarters on Saturday, February 28th.
He is charged with:
- Fail to signal- Lane change
- Fail to yield to traffic on through highway
- Unnecessary slow driving
- Follow too closely
