Families with young children are being reminded that kindergarten registration is now open for the upcoming school year.
The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is encouraging families with children turning four in 2026 to begin the registration process for kindergarten, with students eligible to start school in September.
Parents and guardians can begin by completing the online registration form. Once the form is submitted, the child’s assigned school will contact the family to finalize the process. Families can determine which school their child will attend using the board’s Home School Locator tool.
Kindergarten programming in the SCDSB focuses on helping children develop daily routines, independence and positive relationships. Kindergarten teachers work alongside early childhood educators to provide engaging, play-based learning experiences designed to support students as they begin their educational journey.
Families with children entering kindergarten for the 2026 – 27 school year can also subscribe to Kindergarten Connections, a monthly e-newsletter offering tips, key dates and helpful information about starting school.
Additional details about registration requirements are available here or by contacting a local school. Families registering their children will also be invited to attend kindergarten orientation sessions in the spring, giving them a chance to meet staff and learn more about their school community.
