Two people are facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in downtown Barrie led police to allegedly discover drugs, fraudulent financial devices, and break-in tools inside a vehicle.
Barrie Police says an officer conducting routine traffic enforcement stopped a vehicle on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 3rd in the area of McDonald Street and Mulcaster Street. A check of the driver’s identification revealed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant issued by another police service, and he was arrested without incident.
Both the 43-year-old driver from Brampton and the 40-year-old passenger from Toronto were bound by probation orders with strict conditions related to possessing identification and financial instruments.
During the investigation, officers seized suspected methamphetamine, multiple credit and debit payment terminals, numerous identification and financial cards, prepaid cards, suspected break-in tools, and several $100 bills.
Both individuals now face several charges:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance (methamphetamine)
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of identity documents
- Possession of break-in instruments
- Fail to comply with probation and release orders
