The Alliston Hornets are moving on the next round of the PJHL Playoffs.
They went into Friday, March 13th up 2-0 in the series against the Orillia Terriers with Game #3 to take place at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre.
Orillia opened the scoring in the first period. Alliston would answer right back with a goal from Nick Lamont. It was 1-1 after 20 minutes of action.
In the second period, David Harvey, Ben Smith, and Tristen Pitt would find the back of the net, giving the Hornets a cushy 4-1 lead heading into the second intermission.
Noah Larmon would make it 5-1 in the third period, and that’s how it’d end.
Riley Arts was back in net for the Hornets. He stopped 32 of 33 shots, giving him a stellar .969% save percentage and the win.
It was a quick turnaround for Game #4, as the Hornets travelled to Orillia on Saturday, March 14th.
Will Millington kicked things off in the first period. Tristen Pitt would score twice for Alliston, with Orillia getting on the board themselves. It was 3-1 Hornets after 20 minutes of action.
In the second period, Gunner Kirk and Nick Lamont would provide additional offence for the Hornets. It came in handy as the Terriers also scored twice. That made it 5-3 Hornets heading into the final frame.
Alliston would get a goal from Ben Smith in the third, which helped carry the Hornets to a 6-3 win and series sweep.
Riley Arts continued his hot postseason, stopping 32 of 25 shots. That gave him a .914% save percentage and the victory.
The Hornets will now take on the Stayner Siskins in the North Carruthers Division Finals. We’ll keep you updated on when the series schedule is released.
