The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is inviting parents, guardians, and students to take part in upcoming consultations focused on addressing anti-Black racism in education.
The consultations come in response to the Ontario Human Rights Commission report Dreams Delayed: Addressing Systemic Anti-Black Racism and Discrimination in Ontario’s Public Education System, and aim to gather community feedback on how its recommendations can be implemented locally.
The SCDSB says it recognizes the systemic barriers Black students and staff have faced historically and continue to experience, and is seeking input to help shape a more equitable and inclusive education system. Sessions will be held throughout the spring at various locations across Simcoe County, as well as virtually, and will be facilitated by an external consultant.
Consultation dates and locations include:
- Thursday, April 16th – 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. – Boyne River Public School
