Georgian College and Canadian Forces Base Borden have formalized and expanded their long-standing relationship through a new Memorandum of Collaboration aimed at supporting military-connected learners and workforce development.
The agreement establishes a framework for ongoing and future collaboration, focusing on education, training, and applied learning opportunities aligned with Canada’s defence priorities. CFB Borden, the country’s largest military training facility, provides instruction in areas such as logistics, communications, health services, and maintenance to support operations across the armed forces.
Under the new partnership, both organizations will work together to enhance educational pathways for military members and their families, recognize military training and experience, and expand opportunities for applied research, work-integrated learning, and professional development. A newly created Collaboration Council will help guide the partnership’s direction and identify new initiatives.
“This collaboration with CFB Borden reflects our shared commitment to supporting military-connected learners and Canada’s evolving workforce and defence priorities,” says Kevin Weaver, President and CEO of Georgian College. “By formalizing and expanding our partnership, we are creating more flexible pathways that recognize military training and experience and support successful transitions.”
Melissa Ramessar, Base Commander of CFB Borden, said the partnership strengthens support for Canadian Armed Forces members and their families while enhancing opportunities for education and career transitions.
Georgian College was designated a military-connected college in 2022, and officials say this expanded collaboration will further support service members, veterans, and their families across the region.
