A 37-year-old man is facing multiple charges following a domestic-related incident in Barrie.
According to Barrie Police, officers were called to a residence on Essa Road on Sunday, April 19th after reports a man had assaulted a woman known to him and made threats involving a firearm.
Police, including Tactical Support and K9 units, responded and established a perimeter, temporarily closing Essa Road between Gowan Street and Burton Avenue while they worked to contain the situation.
The suspect later surrendered to officers and was taken into custody without incident. The woman was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
The accused is now charged with;
- Uttering threats to cause death/bodily harm (x2)
- Assault with a weapon
- Administer noxious substance with intent to cause bodily harm
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and thanked residents for their patience during the road closures.
