A driver is facing multiple charges after being stopped by Nottawasaga OPP during proactive patrols.
Officers received an alert from their Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system for a vehicle displaying unattached licence plates. A traffic stop was conducted, and investigators determined the driver had failed to properly register the vehicle after purchasing it.
As a result, the driver was charged with several offences:
- Use plate not authorized for vehicle
- Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
- Drive motor vehicle, no validation on plate
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
- Fail to have insurance card
Police are reminding the public that when buying or selling a used vehicle privately, sellers must provide a used vehicle information package, and buyers are required to register the vehicle within six days of purchase.
