ComicFEST is set to make its return to Innisfil, once again turning the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library’s Lakeshore Branch into a hub of fandom, creativity, and pop culture celebration.
The 3rd annual ComicFEST will take place on Saturday, April 25th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 967 Innisfil Beach Road, offering a free, family-friendly event that brings together fans of comics, manga, gaming, film, and television.
Organizers say the event continues to grow as a community celebration of storytelling and imagination in all forms. Attendees are encouraged to come in costume and take part in a wide range of hands-on activities, interactive experiences, and themed programming designed for all ages.
This year’s lineup includes a Mario Kart Tournament, open gaming sessions, and creative workshops such as lightsaber-making in the HackLAB and Fantastical Greenscreen experiences that allow participants to step into fantasy settings.
A featured highlight will be a Super Mario Galaxy Get Together from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., where fans can gather to celebrate the franchise’s characters and worlds ahead of its next anticipated adventure.
ComicFEST will also spotlight guest creator Beige Blum, co-creator of the award-winning comic Witch Hazel, whose work has appeared in publications such as THIS Magazine, CGMagazine Online, and the AGO Youth series Inner Space.
Younger attendees can take part in activities like Recycling Rockets, where participants design and build space rockets using recycled materials, encouraging creativity and sustainability.
The event will feature a marketplace of local creators and vendors offering handmade and fandom-inspired items, including jewellery, clothing, book-themed accessories, and custom designs. Local artists, trading card collectors, and educators will also be on site to showcase their work and connect with attendees.
Organizers are still seeking cosplayers to participate in the event, interact with attendees, and help bring characters to life throughout the day.
ComicFEST remains a free, community-focused event aimed at promoting reading and creativity through comics, graphic novels, and manga.
