An investigation is underway after reports of a weapon-related altercation involving teenagers at Georgian Mall in Barrie.
Barrie Police say officers were called to the Bayfield Street mall around at 6:40 p.m. on Monday, March 9th after receiving reports of several teens involved in a disturbance, including one individual chasing others with a weapon. Despite a thorough search of the mall, officers were unable to locate any suspects or victims.
Investigators say they have obtained cell phone video that shows a male armed with a machete chasing others. During a search outside the mall, officers located a large machete in the snow, which is believed to be the same weapon seen in the video.
No injuries have been reported, and police say the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Kyle Linkletter via email at klinkletter@barriepolice.ca.
