The Town of New Tecumseth is inviting residents to recognize the people behind essential municipal services during National Public Works Week.
Running from May 17th to May 23rd, this year’s theme is ‘Rooted in Service, Powered by Community’ – which highlights the vital role public works staff play in keeping the community safe, connected, and functioning every day.
Public Works teams are responsible for a wide range of services, including roads, water, wastewater, stormwater management, and fleet operations. While some of their work is visible, much of it happens behind the scenes to ensure daily life runs smoothly.
To mark the week, the Town has planned several community events, including staff tours and public open houses on May 21st, followed by a Touch-A-Truck open house on May 22nd, giving residents a chance to explore equipment and meet the people who operate it.
A food donation drive will also run from May 19th to May 22nd at all events, with attendees encouraged to bring non-perishable items to support local needs.
Residents are encouraged to take part in the activities, learn more about municipal operations, and show appreciation for the workers who help maintain the Town’s infrastructure and services year-round.
