Two people were arrested after Ontario Provincial Police executed a search warrant at a Barrie home as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
Nottawasaga OPP, with assistance from Huronia West OPP and the Barrie Tactical Unit, carried out the warrant on Monday, April 27th. Officers seized a Glock handgun with an extended magazine, 22 grams of cocaine, smaller quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine, six MDMA pills, and a collapsible baton.
A 31-year-old Barrie resident faces multiple charges:
- Traffick in a schedule I substance – Cocaine
- Traffick in a schedule I substance – Other Drugs
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of a firearm obtained by crime knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of Prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous person
- Fail to comply with Undertaking x2
The second accused, a 34-year-old was charged with:
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
- Possession of a firearm obtained by crime knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of Prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous person
The first accused was held for a bail hearing, while the second was released with a future court date in Bradford. Police continue to urge anyone with information about drug trafficking to contact OPP or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
