Barrie Police have charged an 18-year-old Barrie man following a stabbing investigation in the city’s south end.
Police say officers responded to a residence near Yonge Street and Cox Mill Road at around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 4th after receiving reports of a serious assault. A 40-year-old man from Innisfil was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He had been stabbed multiple times following a dispute.
Investigators determined the suspect and victim were known to each other. Officers quickly located and arrested the accused nearby.
A second male who initially fled the area after speaking with police was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit. Investigators later determined he was not involved in the incident and he was released unconditionally.
The accused is charged with:
- Aggravated assault
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
The investigation remains ongoing.
