Students from the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) earned top honours at the 2026 Skills Ontario Competition, bringing home four medals from the provincial event.
A total of 52 students from 10 SCDSB secondary schools competed in the annual competition, which highlights skilled trades and technology careers for youth across Ontario.
Medals were awarded to:
- Peyton M-P., Banting Memorial HS – gold in Auto Painting (teacher-coach Scott Fuller)
- Sam C., Collingwood CI – gold in Auto Service Technology (teacher-coach Kevin Dea)
- Reyna M., Collingwood CI – silver in Restaurant Service (teacher-coach Steve Hoang)
- Maggie R., Innisdale SS – bronze in Workplace Safety (teacher-coach Nathan Teremchuk)
As provincial gold medalists, Peyton and Sam will now represent Team Ontario at the Skills Canada National Competition in Toronto on May 28th and May 29th.
The competition allows students to demonstrate their skills in a variety of trades and technology disciplines while competing against students from across the province. The board says participation is supported through technological education programs, the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program and Specialist High Skills Major programming.
