The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) celebrated student and staff achievements during its ninth annual Celebrating Excellence event last week.
The ceremony took place at St. John Vianney Parish on Thursday, May 21st and recognized 60 recipients across a range of academic, athletic, artistic, leadership, and community service categories. Nearly 300 students, staff, and family members attended the event.
Board Chair Susan van Amelsvoort served as emcee and praised the recipients for demonstrating leadership, compassion, perseverance, and service within their school communities.
Awards presented during the evening included Outstanding Graduate honours for students from the board’s nine Catholic secondary schools, along with recognition for academic and athletic achievements at provincial and national levels. Additional honours included the Lwanga Equity Vanguard Awards, Seton Awards for Faith and Service, and Empower Simcoe Inclusion Excellence Awards.
