Trustees with the Simcoe County District School Board have approved a balanced $771 million budget for the 2026-27 school year.
The budget was approved during the board’s regular meeting on Wednesday, May 27th and reportedly complies with funding requirements set by Ontario’s Ministry of Education.
“The SCDSB’s 2026-27 budget focuses on meeting the needs of students, guided by the board’s Strategic Priorities and operational plans,” says Chief Executive Officer Dawn Stephens. “The SCDSB will continue to direct resources into classrooms in support of student achievement and well-being.”
Superintendent of Business and Facility Services Corry Van Nispen said board staff worked alongside trustees to develop the financial plan while maintaining what he described as a conservative and fiscally responsible approach.
Funding for Ontario school boards is provided through the Ministry of Education’s Core Education Funding model, which is designed to support accountability while allowing boards flexibility to address local priorities and student needs.
