The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is now accepting applications for two virtual summer social skills programs designed for students with a developmental profile consistent with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Running in July, the programs aim to help students strengthen communication, problem-solving, and social development skills in an engaging online environment.
The Coding and Robotics Social Skills Program is a five-day course that combines technology and social learning, focusing on coding, robotics, following instructions, creativity and conversational skills.
The Journey to Success Social Skills Program runs over 10 days and will help students develop self-awareness, communication and problem-solving skills while exploring practical life skills through interactive activities.
Parents and guardians play an important role in both programs and may be required to participate. Families will also receive resources and support to help students continue practicing new skills at home and at school.
Space in the programs is limited. Families interested in applying must complete the initial application form through the Simcoe County District School Board by Friday, June 19th. Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance, and some applicants may be contacted for a telephone interview or screening session to determine program suitability.
Application details can be found here.
