Barrie Police are asking witnesses to come forward following a road rage incident that left a 14-year-old passenger with minor injuries.
The incident happened on Saturday, June 13th at around 10:15 p.m. near the intersection of Dunlop Street West and Ferndale Drive North.
A motorist travelling eastbound on Highway 90 with his mother and children in the vehicle reported being tailgated by a Jeep. When the vehicle stopped at a red light at the intersection, the driver of the Jeep allegedly pulled alongside, began yelling, and threw a beverage can through an open rear window.
The can struck a 14-year-old passenger in the face. Police say the teen suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention.
According to investigators, the Jeep driver left the area, with the other motorist following behind. The two vehicles later stopped near the Highway 400 southbound ramp at Dunlop Street West, where the drivers exchanged words.
Police say the Jeep driver then fled after the other motorist attempted to photograph the licence plate. The vehicle reportedly drove over a curbed median before continuing eastbound across the bridge.
The suspect is described by police as a white male between 30 and 35 years old, approximately 5’10” tall with a heavy build, a large dark beard and medium-length dark hair. He was reportedly wearing a black sweater, black pants and a black baseball cap.
Investigators believe a young passenger, possibly the driver’s child, was seated in the back of the Jeep at the time.
The vehicle is described as a dark grey 2010 to 2015 Jeep Wrangler equipped with oversized tires, a large roof-mounted radio antenna and large yellow spotlights mounted on either side of the hood.
