Barrie Police are investigating a suspicious death after a 64-year-old man was found unconscious outside an apartment building in downtown Barrie.
Someone called 911 shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 18th after finding the man unresponsive in an alley beside a building near Worsley and Poyntz streets. Emergency crews transported him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Investigators say the man’s injuries appear consistent with a fall, but the circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation. Officers secured the area and canvassed for witnesses, surveillance video, and other evidence.
During the initial investigation, police learned the deceased had been visiting someone who lives in the building. Investigators have not yet been able to contact that individual.
The investigation remains ongoing.
